Jo Owen has joined the team of legal IT specialists at Lights-On Consulting, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the legal technology landscape.
Jo’s career in legal technology spans more than two decades, most recently as CIO at a prominent UK law firm until October 2023. Jo has also leveraged her extensive experience within legal tech on various consultancy projects, including the Litig AI benchmarking initiative.
In her role at Lights On, Jo works with the firm’s law firm clients as a fractional IT director, providing strategic leadership and guidance. Passionate about helping law firms to adopt new technologies and practices that can drive growth and efficiencies, Jo brings a particular focus on the benefits and implications of AI for the legal sector.
Commenting on her appointment, Jo said:
“I had known Pete, Stephen and the wider Lights-On team for some time and admired their work in the world of legal tech, so when the opportunity came up, I was absolutely thrilled to join the team. It was an easy and exciting decision.
“Culturally, law firms can be quite different, but their goals and challenges can be very similar, particularly with regard to their use of technology. I am relishing sharing my expertise gained from more than 20 years of working at a broad spread of firms to help our clients harness the most effective technology to achieve their goals.”
Stephen Brown, MD at Lights-On added:
“Jo is deeply embedded in the legal technology sector and we are delighted to welcome her to the Lights-On team. We continue to see strong growth across all areas of work but particularly for talented fractional IT directors, and this is a perfect fit for Jo’s experience, knowledge and strategic skillset.”
Jo is known for her energy and creativity in solving business problems and she applies these attributes to her projects outside of work, which include the conversion of an old fruit farm in Portugal to an off-grid and sustainable living space and having a go at making homemade soap from botanicals on her land.
